how do i add these onto pictures, just wondering.  i did mine a different way

i tried to do it in ms paint but the transparency disappears

do i need gimp or photoshop?

Just open all your images as new layers and then move/resize/rotate the hat and or beard to your liking, then export as some sort of image file
