Go on with all the generalizations that you want, but good bars are always great places to meet people, because that's what the majority of people are there for. If not for that reason specifically, they're at least open to the idea of conversing with a stranger.

Yeah, you get the higher concentration of shithead guys in the college-type pits who are all eyes around closing time, looking for stumblers, but in those places, the girls really aren't any better. It sounds like that's what everyone's describing here........

Bars are like any other place where you would potentially meet someone. It's even easier there because the whole pretense is already stripped away. I'd have a harder time walking up and introducing myself randomly to someone in the library than in a pub...

the downtown area of the town that i reside in is pretty saturated with the college party crowd on weekends, which i'm fine with otherwise, but i just don't like bars for that kind of venue because they are so expensive and impersonal
