seeing as you see the screen EVERY time you get into a battle yes, like I said i like being able to see my characters in battle.

Yeah, there's references everywhere. I don't think it's aged that poorly. I mean, it plays like an older RPG, but that's not a bad thing. At some points, its age shows, but it's not bad.

compare the amount of time you're in battles compared to the time you're wandering our towns. It's VERY minimal. If you're playing the game normally, you should ever really have to grind (unless you're going for the Sword of the Kings or something like that). Even then, at that point you're high enough a level that battles take you 5-10 seconds. So it really isn't bad at all. So, it is a small think. The fact that you won't play a game just because of a battle screen is like not playing a racing game because you don't like the color of the grass in the tracks. It's really silly.

since he seems bummed out about it i'll come out and say that i agree with dp in that the battles aren't a 'small' thing
it's not a matter of time spent doing them, it's a matter of importance
in an RPG, i'd say the battles are p. important
not to mention the number of occurences; in total time spent doing them it's not that much but considering the number of times you'll be doing them... ya

also i agree it's not really a small thing to not like how the battles look. i mean, you're going to be looking at them throughout the entire game. if you can't get used to that stylistic choice, it's going to at least somehwat hamper your enjoyment. i though you guys were more reasonable than that lol

still, i can't imagine it being very easy to dislike it to the degree it would take to just not want to play the game lol

ANYWAY, this is one of those instances where i'm really glad it's coming out but it's not like i'm gonna get it. i'm just glad it's coming out because this is fucking important. it's extremely important that this is finally coming out here. nintendo is finally willing to let the US fans show them that we want this series here.

i accidentally abused my emulator's fastforward and ruined mother 3 for myself
also mother 1 was so boring to play i just couldn't do it
