yes it's ass-ugly compared to even the final fantasies on the same console that came out after it, yes it's massively overrated, however i still think it's a genuinely great game. it's one of my favorites in the series.

the only reason felt even dislikes it is because it doesn't play like xiii.

i'm saying people only liked sa2 because they were kids, not because it was made retroactively bad by modern games.

if you'd never been exposed to it and played it today, you'd say sa2 is shit.

if you'd never played a good 32-bit rpg and played it today, it's probably even better than most rpgs you'd play from this gen

deus ex is graphically dated and the voice acting is embarrassing compared to what you'd hear today, but when i first beat it around 2 years ago i had no real complaints because it's still a great game.

hell, 3d platformers that preceded sonic adventure were better in every way. banjo kazooie holds up great and even super mario 64 was more refined

if truly remaking ffvii would put fans of it off, why have none of the mostly horrid spin-offs related to managed to do so?

i think square's more worried about completely screwing up their remake attempt

fans still remember when square wasn't that bad, and they haven't done too much to ruin their old works, so fans like thinking that someday things will get better. when companies try a hollywood reboot on games we know and love (e.g. new dmc) then fans just give up
