Yeah they are both amazing. I liked FMA a lot Too but the characters can be super annoying

one of the things that's kind of worse about brotherhood is that, indeed, it has some pretty dumb characters that feel sort of tacked on lol

like the little chinese girl

in the end i like both fmas roughly the same. i like brotherhood's story more and its overall presentation i guess. i kinda had more fun with it too, it was very blood pumping and addictive at times. but then the first one was often more serious in a good way and had some character changes for the better (like tucker being an antagonist who changed himself into a chimera, that was awesome), but unfortunately it has a shit ending lol
