guild wars 2 is so boring

  • The "dynamic" questing is nice, but it's still picking up cow poop or killing X amount of shits. This game spouted all over the place the "no more mindless kill x, pick up y" promise, but really the only thing you're doing differently than in WoW (which we all know they were jabbing at) is watching a bar fill up after you kill something instead of seeing a #/#.

  • Playing by yourself is a lot easier than playing with a friend. Random world events pop up, usually to kill something or escort someone somewhere and defend them, and if theres anyone else eligible in the area the game decides it should scale the event for 2 people, even if that other person is alt-tabbed jerking off to paris hilton; but even if they're not the scaling for more than 1 person is pretty ridiculous, since they just up the health of everything basically, when everything takes long enough to kill already. Adding on to basically playing by yourself, unless you AND your friend play as the same race, you won't be able to do your story quests together. Which reminds me, story quests are stupid. The required levels go up in such high increments, starts out as 1, goes to 3, to 6, to 8 to 10, to 13, and so on. This means between each story mission you have to go level 2-3 times, then port back to the city, do 1 mission, then go out and level 3 times again. Back to my point, if you and your friend want to help each other in story missions, you have to do 2 of basically the same instances, but 1 person wont get quest xp.

  • Unless you take hours ahead of time to prepare yourself and find a profession you want to play, you won't know what the hell you're doing. Since your skills and traits are all very vague and/or hidden, you won't know what you're getting into by putting points into them. However, even if you do know, you then have to ask someone "so if I take X-skill, do I want power, precision or condition damage (this one is just DoT-damage, though so it's a little obvious that you don't want it if it doesn't provide a dot). Now great, you have a skill and a good stat for it, but, oh, whats this? you have 7 other skills on your bar that most likely utilize a different stat better. Low level gear items are so poorly itemized that they only have 2 attributes, defense and either power, precision, health or condition damage and since the game is SO CUSTOMIZABLE you will have 6 different weapons that you can use (weapons are literally about a 95% drop rate from everything) but only the 1 set of gear.

  • Crafting is literally the most annoying thing in the world, and unless you want to spend 10 hours looking for bandits to farm jutes, you won't be able to level anything that uses them. Jobs that use mining material aren't as bad, but since you have to purchase a depleting 100-charge gathering pick, and each time you click a node you use a charge, it takes quite a while and a few silver to get a good amount of just copper.

  • im hungry, maybe ill write more

in conclusion, guild wars 2 isn't very new and exciting. It's okay if you want to play a game by yourself, I mean, when I played it, it felt more like I was playing an open world RPG, which it kind of is, given that the people who play it behave as robots. The world itself is very pretty and fun to look at too, and I do enjoy that they reward you for exploring, but then again you're basically forced to do it to meet the level requirements for the next zone anyway.

The only decent free mmo that wasn't bogged down by lag I've played was Vindictus. It's an instance grind game, but if you like doing that, you'll have lots of fun, promise.

Snowy

I've been playing FFXI and really enjoying it. I'll get XIV once 2.0 drops.

you sound like a heavy MMO player, and guild wars 2 does seem more targeted for less "hardcore" players, so that may be why you don't like it much i dunno
I haven't played much of any MMO so it's probably more for someone like me
I just kind of go with the flow on rpgs anyways so much of what you said doesn't really matter to me
