So you have to call them and wait for it to ship rather than going to the store ?

Also going back to where Hiro said I haven't called other companies out for redesigning consoles, david was correct. I have commented on Sony and the PSP.  Different revisions of the PS3 have also caught flak from me.

I give Microsoft a pass on the 360 Slim because it specifically fixed issues where 1/5- 1/2 (depending on the source) of systems were getting a RROD. They offered extended warranties on the defective systems and redesigned it so new systems didn't have that defect.

That is far different than Sony taking the PSP, stripping out UMDs, and putting the screen on a slider or Nintendo releasing the DSLite, DSi, and DSi XL one after another. Neither of the redesigns by Sony or Nintendo were to address major hardware failure on the scale of the original 360.

What's your definition of a redesign? Having a body/case/chassis that, ignoring external connectors and removable covers, has a different shape and size?

Any other definition, like nontrivial differences in hardware features intended to replace the previous console version, would include both cases of backwards compatibility loss.

but I guess even the Gamecube has similar differences between its versions, considering the digital AV port was removed.

nintendo is truly regressing.  time to put it out of its misery.

As was expected, considering they've never had a region-unlocked console and even the handhelds have become region locked ever since DSi
