I don't follow tumblr people and not many on facebook cause I forget about it.

and tumblr really, really confuses me. do people really just copy and paste images other people already posted? is there really anything else to it?

well a lot of it is posting your own stuff as well. it's basically just a blog platform combined with twitter, rss feeds, a messaging system, etc. So you can (anonymously or under your username) ask people questions to which they can privately respond to or publish on their blog. You can also set up multiple blogs, collaborate on group blogs and whatnot, although those aren't as common. What most people do is post pictures or whine about their shitty teenage girl lives. Reblogging isn't exactly just copy/paste, there's actually a button on every post that says "reblog", in which you can repost whatever that posting was onto your own blog, but you can edit the text and tags on it as well. When you reblog something, there is a header above the posting saying who you reposted it from, along with the total combined number of likes/reblogs that posting has had, and the original source on the bottom of the posting.

Most of the community is horrible but if you follow the right people there's interesting stuff to look at.

I am up to 43 followers on tumblr while I follow 157 people.

For twitter I have 11 followers and am following 67

I guess I will throw fb friends in there too with 124

Gee, I don't even keep track. Since I was last on Twitter, I can tell you that I follow near my maximum of 2,000 poeple, nearly all of them press people or politicians, and I have about 650 followers, give or take a few spammers daily that I block when I find 'em.

Edited to add that I just checked Facebook: 119 Friends.
MySpace: 44 Friends and I haven't spent time over there at all since The Big Change.

Just recently started on G+ so I'm not gonna count that. Yet. Give it time.
