I think that Israel is demanding sympathy, but remains highly hypocritical in its own regime. As one of the biggest state sponsors of aggression, if not terrorism, they disregard international norms and laws, and proceed with an attitude of exceptionalism and obvious arrogance. They neither confirm nor deny their several hundred warheads, but everybody knows it. And we are supposed to listen carefully? They occupy Jerusalem unrecognized and build settlements to stifle a drive for independence. Collectively punish more than a million people by turning it into nothing more than a ghetto, a modern day concentration camp. I say this to put into perspective and context the beliefs and convictions that are inherent in this conflict.

But more than this, a preemptive and unprovoked attach on Iran would be the stupidest thing they could possibly do. It would ruin the fragile balance, and affect me and you, pretty much the whole world very very badly.  For one, they cannot properly apply a decisive blow if they go at it alone, which they will most likely have to. They posses highly modified strike aircraft, but not enough and they are limited by range and payload. They will have to use missiles, either from subs or land based ballistic ones. Which opens the door for a combined assault upon Israel by thousands and thousands of missiles of all caliber raining down daily all across their land, by the various actors sympathetic to, allies and agents of Iran. Not only would it be ineffective in the long run, but expose them in their flanks, such as Gaza, and the West Bank, Lebanon and even Syria, with Egypt as it is, they could certainly react rather harshly. Iraq wont allow overflights, and Turkey will not too, possibly Jordan and Saudi Arabia would permit the transit. Strategic bombing rarely breaks the will of the people alone, or achieve results on ideology. The physical damage is superficial.

The implications are catastrophic. Iran would bomb bases across the middle east, go crazy in Iraq, increase assassination attempts and insurrection plots, mine the straits of Hormuz, and ignite a hornets nest. And for what? Because one nation insists that its interpretation of world affairs and developments  is the only right one and thus enforcing this by all means upon those whom we wish to is legitimate and therefore appropriate. This is a grave mistake, of a sick man who brings death. And really, as the only nation to have used nuclear weapons in conflict as a means to and end, what sort of understanding could we possibly give?
