I believe that qualifies as 'married but separated'

but certainly not separated but married because it's not a legal separation
my dad is in the armed forces so that forces him to deploy to the middle east every so often

They separated when I was 6 and divorced officially when I was 8. Fucked me up real badly.

Since then, my mom has gotten married to a great guy and dad stayed single without pursuing anyone.
