I got to talking with some of my co-workers and they thought it was really strange that I preferred to dine out alone. Apparently, whenever they go out to eat they do so with other people.   

Does anyone else prefer to eat by themselves or am I just it?

I prefer to eat with others, especially if in a restaurant. But I also enjoy sitting in parks and such and eating alone. It is calming.

I don't mind eating alone, but usually if I do then random people come up to me and ask if I'm okay.

This one time I ate at Denny's alone. I walk in, and the hostess asked "How many in your...just one?" and she seemed a little weirded out about it, so I curtly affirmed that it was I alone dining at Denny's tonight.  I was really depressed, and couldn't hide that like I normally can. My waiter is a 37 year old man with a tattoo of what I believe to be a cross or something. His tattoo was really ornate and I wasn't sure what it was. Anyway, he comes up and asks me what I would like for dinner, I tell him the Shrimp and Grits (pretty bad, btw). "What to drink?" I ordered that fruity pineapple fusion drink that they have. "...oooook."

Also, throughout that night, the table of two women across from me were making eyes at me. They were maybe 40 something, and dressed in black leather tops. While flattering, I am not attracted to women who look like they may had had sex with Motley Crue when they were my age.

I'm sure it's not the worst night of my life, but it's an honorable mention

I don't really have a preference. Though I will say that if I am eating alone it's a little bit annoying to have people try to make me sit with them just because I'm alone.
