I don't hate Chicago. At all. I actually really like it. But Chicago isn't Minneapolis. It isn't even Pittsburgh.

What is there to dislike? I guess if you hate winter then okay. I bet your feelings will come around eventually.

It's 75% pretentious or conservative-values niggers. a hipster cesspool, even nationally known as such. there's nothing to fucking do. no soul or good vibes going, just generic looking shit everywhere, goddamn river-themed minneapolis style condo buildings. hopeless sports teams. about 3 good ethnic restaurants, maybe 10 good cheap restaurants total. and there's about 2 enjoyable months out of the year, the rest are too cold or too hot to even consider doing anything outside. it just feels small to me, like there's never anything happening because everyone does the same goddamn thing every day.

but again you can read my full review shortly  n_u

I disagree with most of this....I don't know whether to respond to each thing individually or just not bother.

Do you think this has mostly to do with Wayzata/BSM/Dinkytown? Though I will concede that there are all too many snowmobile-driving cocks from Blaine and crazy hippie lol women from Kenwood.

Well okay.

I disagree with this a lot. Do you mean like huge music and celeb events or warehouse raves? Because then I guess, but as far as actual things to just go do I was never short.

Not sure exactly what you are looking for here, but this is probably another Wayzata/Dinkytown thing. I feel like if you get to know the city, you would know.

Uh, what? You mean like Riverplace and Saint Anthony Main? Or are you talking about something else?

Something I don't much care about. And the Twins are always just fine.

Okay, now that's just bullshit. You're being a pessimist who's upset about other things and is looking to push it around? I don't understand how you can think that...

When you move to LA things will be awesome and a whirlwind for 2, maybe 6 months. Maybe you'll feel more active there on a daily basis. You were probably so bored here because you didn't go to school or have a regular job. Sounds pretty boring to me.

um I never spent any time in Wayzata or with BSM people, yeah they're some of the worst of the worst but I was referring to Minneapolis culture in general. It's either yuppie fucks who think they're all that or republicans with boats. This is not unique to Minnesota, there's just not enough alternative culture to feel like it's not 95% of people. I mean who have YOU been around in Minneapolis? white people?  akudood;

No I'm not talking about warehouse raves and celebrity events (lol). Minneapolis has nice parks, but I have already spent infinity time bumming around in all of them. In terms of going to random unseen places to observe the culture there and just feel like you're walking around in some kind of active world, there is nothing out of the ordinary. NOTHING

uh no the only vibe in minneapolis is suburban denial and stillness, a lot of people who don't want to go anywhere, or else people who can't wait to leave. there is, objectively, never anything exciting happening.

uhhhh LA definitely has a more unique look than Minneapolis, it looks like LA. A lot of stupid shit, sure, but I'm not moving there for the architecture. I was talking about this:

I don't know enough about it to know the name of the style, I'm sure you do. It's everywhere, it all looks the same, and I hate it.

Yes one of the ones I was counting is La Poblanita on East Lake. I'm speaking specifically of actual awesome hole-in-the-wall places, not chic greek and bolivian bistros... Central Ave in NE has the best concentration but still miserable.

December - March are too cold to do anything outside, and June - August are too hot. I don't count spring because it also sucks to be outside. So that leaves September - November, which are always my favorite months in MN. 3/12 months

No I'll feel exactly the same on a day-to-day basis in LA, you're right, I'll just have the comfort of knowing that the sea is a half-mile away and there's a country's worth of culture accessible in a 20 minute drive. If I hear about some random event, concert, speaker, whatever, there's a 30% chance I will be able to attend it personally (because it will be in the LA area, if that was unclear). Minneapolis has probably 45,000 real people in it, LA has one million. It'll be a lot easier to make friends.

And uh I think I'd have had less time to experience the city I lived in if I had spent half of every day on a college campus or at some worthless job?  doodthing; I've been around the twin cities, and at least seen every damn part of them. The midwest in general is just too generic, omaha to minneapolis to des moines there's no difference. just fucking white people walling up in suburbs to avoid the rest of their lives. I want to get on with living with some other folks who want to make things happen.

oh also did I mention that pot isn't legal in MN?

What exactly do you like about Minneapolis? It's not my least favorite place ever, by a longshot (I'd be happy to come back occasionally), but I don't consider it someplace I'd like to live for an extended period of time, at all.
