Well I have one.

I like the barnes and noble library better.

idk I just personally like it a lot more than a kindle. My nook is even named.

Sort of yes.  For legal, non-public domain books yes, for less legal books no.

I really love my kindle, I have to say. There's nothing better than bringing an entire library with you on a camping trip or to class where space is limited. It's sort of like how I felt when I bought my ipod and pumped all of my music onto it.

So, I use it primarily as a travel companion. Something I can take with me at a moments notice. I still buy and prefer books when reading at home, but it's an absolutely fantastic little thing.

Plus, amazon's support is wonderful. My first one had an issue with the screen a few months into owning it (might have been my fault after all...) and they sent a new one out the next day.

Really pleased with it and I would recommend it to anyone who does a substantial amount of reading away from home.

Only issue I had with it is the kind of wonky indexing system. I torrented a huge block of about 1500 books and stupidly put them all on in one swoop. Slowed it down to the point of it freezing and the battery would drain after a day. If you're putting a large amount of books on, do it in batches of about thirty, let it index, and add another thirty.

Yarrrrrrrr...

I have a kindle, and I really like it. Reading on it is solid, and it's a great piece of hardware. Apparently libraries in my area are starting to let you check out books via e-reader (so far every one but kindle is supported, although kindle support is coming i think), so that's pretty cool.

@Boognish
How easy is it to put pirated books on a kindle? I've never really looked into it. Also, what are good resources for pirating books? Thankssssss

Along with pretty much everyone else, I use calibre to manage my library.

Here's the link. http://calibre-ebook.com/

It's pretty much drag and drop. Only complaint is you cant manage compilations outside of doing so directly on the kindle so expect to take some time organizing your crap if you add a lot of stuff.  Calibre also can work directly with your kindle so you can add/remove items with the program instead of just putting them in or pulling them out of the device when its connected.

Calibre is able to convert pretty much every popular format into something the Kindle can recognize. I think the default format it MOBI, but kindle can read .txt and .pdf (though not very well).
