DAVID BYRNE DOES A SONG.

http://consequenceofsound.net/2011/05/arcade-fire-teams-up-with-david-byrne-for-the-suburbs-deluxe-edition/

it comes with two unreleased songs and an extended version.

also 80 page book and a film by spike jonze.

totally glad I didn't buy this album when it first came out.

(p.s. first arcade fire album is best arcade fire album)

Samus Aran

i don't think i've ever heard anyone disagree with your p.s. about Funeral - it definitely is their best

regardless, Suburbs has grown on me wonderfully. i really may consider getting it again for this.

Also! The tracks are up, Speaking in Tongues is great. http://consequenceofsound.net/2011/05/check-out-arcade-fire-culture-war-speaking-in-tongues/

barely worth mentioning DB though. Cool he's up there, but would've loved to hear him sing more than "Speaking in Tongues".

Heard a little bit of the actual stuff on The Suburbs. It's not bad. I need to hear the whole thing.

Culture War is cool too.

I mean I can see why it would get so many mixed reactions, but for me it's just got more to it, which I like.

I dunno. I think it's got too much to it. It feels bloated, slow. It's devoid of the youthful spirit of the first album.

Yeah, I like the slowness. It means you have to chew on it.
As for a youthfulness, that's kind of the point. I feel like Funeral is about youth, Neon Biblle losing that innocence, and The Suburbs as coming to terms with adulthood.

Samus Aran

i would say that on most days, i can listen to Funeral, but only on certain days with certain moods can i fully appreciate The Suburbs of Neon Bible

because bittersweet nostalgia is by far the easiest of the three moods to grasp on any given occasion, i think

as for as the quality of the music goes, i think The Suburbs may be basically equal to Funeral, so it's really all about that mood that makes Funeral much easier for me to listen to most of the time

(also the length but that's kind of just a tiny, insignificant issue usually)

Mondegreen

I'm going to end up buying it, I just know it.

Funeral is the best but imo Neon Bible and The Suburbs aren't far behind.
