A friend of mine got really really into the whole bonsai tree scene (there might be one) and I wanted to try it, so I bought a houseplant to start. I used to have a green(er) thumb way back when. I actually gave most of my old houseplants away, even including my favorite spiky.....something.

Either my watering techniques were sub-par or there's some bad feng shui related vibrations bubbling around my apartment, but the damn thing looks like it's been through vietnam.

Yeah, but that's kind of a silly way to look at things.
I might have the perfect hands to be a master sculpter who is capable of creating world changing art, but if I dont like it and if I dont want to do it and it doesn't make me happy, why would that be counted as "wasted".

You die or your hands fell of before you decided to be the master sculptor you could be. I guess it is a weird way of looking at things. I like paradoxes though, they're fun.

But anything could be. I could choose to be a dairy farmer. I  could decide to do something really evil. People have the potential, so when does potential somehow turn into something concrete enough to be wasted?

Is is only on attributes that we value highly?
