Playlist to describe life

If you had to make a relatively short playlist, that would work well as a soundtrack to life, or lets say a soundtrack to a movie that follows the complete life of someone (sort of like Forrest Gump, but more), what would it be? Let's say you just encountered an alien who was oblivious to the concept of the progression of life, and wanted to describe it to him.
