Go Down

Boogus Epirus Aurelius

I decided to go down to the store today to buy some shoes.
Shoes are strictly utilitarian items, something to get your feet around. It doesn't mean I'm into the all white velcro tennis shoes that seem to attract senility and walker toting pill-slingers. I settled on a pair of these real comfortable low cut sneakers, ditching my old moccasins for something more practical. I dont live in the woods anymore, see?

I purchased my new footwear and proceeded to the sliding exit doors when some burly tough guy comes up to me holding a golf club that he was marveling at moments before. "What did you say to me?", he said to me.

I was baffled and told him the truth. I didn't say anything, see. He was still in arms and in striking pose when he skulked back off to the golf club rack.

I run into people like this all the time. Everyone seems so defensive and ready to misconstrue a look or action or something in order to defend some kind of notion they have about themselves. Maybe they've been beaten down their entire lives and have developed that kill or be killed mindset. But regardless, it seems like fewer and fewer people are giving other people the benefit of the doubt anymore.

I dont think I'm making sense. There's a point in there somewhere.
