The oil is not 'given away', it is sold. I also appreciate how all your points about Canada being illogical are all based around one thing, the Alberta oil sands. If you are going to call Canada illogical as a whole, you need to come up with some better reasoning.

Uh...I was just naming one isolated incident of Canada being dumb. America is just as dumb for supporting the terrible operation in the first place.

If you took my comment for a serious criticism of Canada, you looked too far into it. I just think the oil sands operation is completely retarded and a major step backward.

It's not a step backward from anything tangible we've reached yet. It's a step backward in the development of better energy sources and better using the ones we have. It takes far, far more energy to produce this oil than to produce it from more traditional oil sources (in fact, there is almost no net energy gain), it's extremely destructive of land and very hazardous to the water sources nearby (just look at how close the tailings ponds are).

I just think it's not worth it. Canada makes a buttload of money off of it, sure, but other than that I don't see it as beneficial.

Yes, but it still supports the Canadian economy and provides a very large amount of jobs. The only reason people obsess over the oil sands is because of how clean Canada's environmental track record is in comparison. Anyway, I'm off to bed, work in the morning. Nice talking to you.

just use it in moderation and its fine
medical marijuana, mdma used to help treat people with ptsd, ketamine, a lot of stuff
our generation does obesess over drugs
