I've been wanting to do NaNoWriMo for a long time, but um yeah school. maps;

Samus Aran

i had no idea this existed

coincidentally, i had already committed myself to making November more writing-filled than usual, so awesome

i'm writing an 11 or so page fiction piece that is in essence the basis of a novel i'm working on

I like writing but fiction takes too much effort and I don't have enough interesting experiences to write non-fiction

Samus Aran

two pages so far and it's looking quite nice, though still very rough of course, nothing set in stone

two pages double-spaced, mind you

here's an excerpt, not starting at the beginning but shortly after
Until suddenly, there was something. Warmth slithered down the notches in Tommy's spine and he shivered with delight, a baby's smile creeping across his face. His toes curled inside his dirty grey Converse and his fingers clenched into happy fists, satisfied by their wakefulness. And slowly, slowly his eyes opened, and Tommy's mouth slid open in wonder as he looked about him, taking in all the colors and shapes of the ambiguous tunnel he found himself in. Brilliant lights of every sort whirred past him as he floated, safe, nothing but the brilliance around him to keep him company. He was happy.

But then, Tommy was not happy. He could remember his smiling mother's face, how she clapped as he blew out his birthday candles. He could remember Roscoe's graceful leaps and bounds through the wheat, and his wet nose, and the way his tongue felt on Tommy's cheek. Tommy did not want memories. Tommy only wanted to be free in his endless tunnel of color.

Tommy's thoughts were disrupted as he noticed the end of the tunnel up ahead. A wall, amoebic in its movements, ever changing, continually shuddering with life. As Tommy grew nearer, he started to hear noises. Laughter, music, gunshots, crying, tires squealing, dogs barking, waves crashing, the roar of a jumbo jet down the runway near Tommy's San Antonio home. But loudest of all was the sound of his own heartbeat, pounding in his head even as he cupped his hands over his ears. He shut his eyes tightly as he became enveloped by the wall. His blood boiled and he felt himself scream, but it was drowned out by the cavalcade of noises in his head. He reeled with pain he had never known before, his heartbeat growing faster and louder by every second as his body moved through the aqueous wall of sound.

And then, as Tommy's heart exploded in his head, he passed out. Blackness once more, and for all Tommy knew, it was blackness eternal. But Tommy didn't know.
that's actually some pretty good writing. I'd look at the verbs, though, they bored me

PRETTY GAY, MAN

interestingly, reading over what i just posted, it could easily be joked at regarding homosexual undertones, though that's partially due to what i decided to exclude

indeed, much of them bore me as well, thank god i don't despair at revising

care to mention which verbs in particular could be more interesting? would be nice.

i agree with the first, the second not so much because it ties in kind of humorously with what happens immediately afterward

but i might still eradicate it anyway, it is a bit odd i will admit
