The biggest thing I would have to worry about with my taking extacy this one time (seeing as it isn't a common thing for me to do - this is the second time I have done it in three years & the first time I took half a pill) would be that I would get dehydrated or overheated. and like you said "in most states", others have it decriminalized, other countries have it decriminalized, others have it legalized.  Therefore it "being illegal" isn't a defense for why marijuana is bad for you, it's an argument on how retarded laws based on racist views (Editorial from the 30's: "Marihuana influences Negroes to look at white people in the eye, step on white men's shadows and look at a white woman twice."  OH SHIT NEGORES LOOK AT WHITE PEOPLE WEED IS BAD).


The argument also fails since criminalization doesn't work, it just creates a market for drug lords.

I really doubt you know how politics work and anything about the history of the US other than what is taught in class.
1.) There is this thing called "lobbying" in which a "lobbyist" works to influence politicians, usually through political contributions or "gifts" (new car, new house, free private jet usage, etc.) on the behalf of corporations/religious groups/social groups/etc.
2.)Hemp–also cannabis–can be used to make fuel for automobiles. Henry Ford had special interests with oil companies and provided funny to marijuana prohibitionist groups. DuPont was in the market for synthetic fibers: something that hemp fiber was competing with. Same with the paper industry.
3.)Like I said, racist propaganda also influenced it.
4.)There are also people (e.g. you apparently who "tl;dr" things and don't bother learning history other than what is fed in class) that just believe everything the anti-drug lobbies say.

also like clucky said, people profit from it being illegal. The US has the largest prison population in the world, both by numbers and percentage. A large number of this is due to simple marijuana charges. We have a large private prison industry.

but yeah it's weed and not greed that is bad.
