Because the way our society has become, people are allowed to do whatever makes them feel more comfortable, even if it's morally repugnant.

Which is exactly how it should be. People should be allowed to do whatever they want--whether it's done to 'feel more comfortable' or what-have-you--as long as one doesn't infringe upon another's right to do likewise, regardless of if one has everybody's stamp of approval before proceeding. This is the consequence of living in a free society, and it ought to be celebrated, not lamented.

Personally, I find your desire to have your own (in my opinion, misguided) beliefs regarding homosexuality imposed onto the rest of society to be morally repugnant. I still believe that you should be allowed to hold these morally repugnant views, however. That may not seem like a very profound or unique thing to say, but if I were as antipathetic to 'moral repugnance' as you are, it's unlikely that I would feel the same way. I wasn't aware that in our society, the philosophy that's directly opposed to yours on this matter is gaining acceptance and becoming more mainstream, but if this is true, then it's a progression that I welcome with open arms.
