I went my sophomore year because my friend needed a date, didn't go last year cause I didn't want to waste all that money on one evening, and I'm going this year because my mom's making me. Going dress-shopping with some friends tomorrow actually.

and my date is my best friend. Her boyfriend is just a tagalong. (we're actually going as a sort of creepy threesome, he even offered to buy my ticket, but I refused)

Your dress-shopping will probably be a lot better than mine. :\ I would LOVE to go to some thrift shop and pick out a dress and maybe fix it up exactly how I like it. Instead, I'm going to this place:

with a handful of friends and some of their moms and my mom. Some of their dresses are really pretty, but the prices ($200-500) make me cringe.

My mom is paying for it because she's the one making me go to prom, but still. blah. I hate spending large amounts of money on things I'm barely going to use. :\ At the same time, I'm pretty excited to try on a bunch of cool dresses.
