why does america hate shorts

around Oscar time I like to watch a bunch of highly rated film shorts from the past year, in the spirit of the under-appreciated Oscar category

some of them are extremely good, and it sucks there is pretty much no following of shorts in the US.

did anyone see any of the ones nominated for the Oscar? if you haven't, and like movies at all, I'd buy them all on itunes... they're $1.99 each and between 10 minutes and half hour long, it's a pretty good deal. a couple of them are amazing.
