I don't really know what you're saying because the story accomplished what it set up. If you didn't like Kiki's Delivery Service for that reason you'll probably like Totoro even less.

There was a story though. There just wasn't much action? I don't really know how to call it but it wasn't the lack of a story.

it wasn't the lack of action, i'm perfectly fine with a peaceful movie.
It just seemed like there could have been a lot more to it.
And am I the only one that noticed the laughing?

What more could there have been? I don't really see what could have been added or amplified to make it a better movie but I'd be really interested to hear what you think about it. It just seems like making it more would have destroyed the movie. It doesn't need to be anything more than it is.
