I think it's more that it causes you to lose your concern for what other people will think of you for being with someone ugly. And it makes you more prone to act upon horniness as well

Yea, it definitely doesn't literally transform your image of someone. It's just the fact that you don't really care, or are too out of it to realize what is going on.

I think "view" is being used as it would be used in the sentence: "His view of this issue is..."  Indeed, the image isn't changed, but how you would rate that image is.
