Box sets of movies usually are only box sets because they're limited editions that come with DVDs of additional content, unless they're a series of movies like Star Wars or something. The "box set" of Pulp Fiction probably has a DVD of the normal movie, a widescreen version DVD, and possibly some additional features DVD.

These sets come out all the time.
