Well I just moved back into my parents house to live at while I'm in school here. So I have my Mac Book and this Acer PC which I recently bought. The only way for me to connect to the internet is through my 50 ft. Ethurnet cable which is annoying since Ih ave to walk all the way to the other side of the house to plug it in. I found this old Dell router we used awhile back. So is there anyway I can plug in that router to my PC via small ethurnet cable and use it to connect to our router across the house wirelessly?

Blah I screwed up on wording it. I have a router connected to my modem thats on the other side of the house from my PC. I have another router that I found. So could I hook the router I found right into my PC and use the wireless on the router I found to connect to the internet from the router that is plugged into my modem. Will draw diagram in a minute if you guys still don't get it.

It should work in theory unless your dell router is really dated or something

just be sure to set up a wireless network on your pc

No, dude, you can't use a router to pick up Wi-Fi. You'll need a Wi-Fi USB adapter, assuming your desktop doesn't have one of those built in, if you wish to wirelessly connect to the internet using the router on the other side of your house. The router you found is useless.

I use one for the other desktop in the house.
