Go Down

the shortest route to the sea

I was first introduced to Arcade Fire through Neighborhood #1, which I actually performed at a summer program I was at. We got a pretty good and wide-ranged instrumentation and some great vocals, so the song actually struck a chord at the time (I played Clarinet, which worked on the major seventhy-lick which piano and strings play with sometimes). And now I spend my days searching for the Christmas EP and the Bowie Live EP.

In fact, that program is where I was introduced to Radiohead, Muse and Wilco. Hmm.

Skylark

Wilco used to be a favorite but I haven't listened to them in a very long time (I'm unsure why) but I know the first song I heard was She's a Jar and I remember it so well.

The highlight of their covers was probably of "Walken," except add a huge horn section to it and increase the distortion a little. Other stuff they've done was "Climbing up the Walls," "The National Anthem," "Starlight," "Hysteria," "Neighborhood #3: Power out," "Wake up," "Keep the Car Running," etc. I can't remember our other Wilco covers, though.

That sounds like a really good thing to do with your Summer. I imagine it was really fun

Oh god it was. I ended up singing on "Hysteria" which broke my voice for a while, and I never got to play on a lot of the covers. I remember, though, for "Climbing up the Walls," the director told me to do a low and esoteric solo a half-step down from everybody else, and occasionally jump up to help.

Oh, I remember now, I did drums on "Jesus etc." I wish I could've done "Heavy Metal Drummer," but oh well :3

oh and I forgot Why? which is one of my new favorites.
