I found an old Dell computer in my basement. No CD drives, but it had a floppy drive. I tried it out and it works...barely. It's been taken over by viruses and is nearly impossible to use.

Now, I don't need anything on that computer other than what a brand new computer would come equipped with (Windows, web browser, other basic things), so what's a quick and easy way to get rid of everything but Windows?

get the windows xp cd and put it in and stuff

make sure you have drivers for the video card, and whatever else first.

He stated it doesn't have an optical drive and it doesn't sound like he wants to go out and buy one.

The only thing that comes to mind is downloading a Linix Distro and installing it over Windows, but you'd probably still want to purchase an optical drive and install Windows on it.

For some reason I doubt I could get to specs without it crashing. v;
Plus, I've already moved it to another room where an Internet connection isn't available. I decided it really isn't worth the saving, I guess I'll just throw it out or something.

Oh, and to give you an idea of how old it is, it has a 16GB harddrive.

Go to Walmart and buy a CD drive

Well, if you put in a CD drive and a new HDD it probably would make an okay secondary computer, but then I guess that also depends on how much RAM it has and its CPU.

I wouldn't really need it. Even if my main computer died, I have:

My dad's laptop
PS3
Wii

It'd be nice having a second PC, but I really doubt it's worth saving. caterpie;

Buy it, use it, break it, fix it,
Trash it, change it, Melt - upgrade it,
Charge it, Pawn it, zoom it, press it,
Snap it, work it, quick - erase it,
Write it, get it, paste it, save it,
Load it, check it, quick - rewrite it,
Plug it, play it, burn it, drip it,
Drag it, drop it, zip - unzip it,
Lock it, fill it, call it, find it,
View it, colour, jam - unlock it,
Surf it, scroll it, Pose it, click it,
Cross it, crack it, Switch- update it,
Name it, rate it, tune it, print it,
Scan it, send it, fax - rename it,
Touch it, bring it, Bey it, watch it,
Stop it, leave it, stop - format it.
