Well, next year will be my last year dealing with it but;

Football/Basketball players
Track and Field players
Wrestlers
Soccer Players
Preps
Some group that I can't really discribe
Smart kids/"cool" video gamers
The Extreme nerds
anyone I left out

~I'm mostly in the smart kids group with some of the above two based on who I talk to.

Selkie

um, in high school, there isn't really anything like that...

Though there are still some idiots that think that it is still like that and constantly bitch and moan about the jocks and preps getting all the hot girls, simply because they are jealous that the hot girls aren't interested in them.

YPrrrr

Wow, my high school didn't go by race at all. I think there is some overexaggeration in this thread

This pretty much goes for me as well.

There is no social hierarchy; we are all equal. No cliques or anything.

I'm pretty sure we don't have a hierarchy at my school. If we do, then I don't care enough to bother noticing.

What the fuck, you're younger than me?
Sadly, she has better grammar and intelligence than over half of boyah. befuddlement

My school just has popular, nerds, gossipers, retards, and just people in a group of two or three friends.

My school, like all other schools in New York City, has a very different social "hierarchy".

People with friends
People with no friends

The thing is, people hang out with whoever they want, and it's not unusual for it to be interracial. If you see a bunch of blacks, if you know them well you can just as well hang out with them. It's all about friendship and acquaintances. Even during lunch, you can sit with whoever you please. You may talk to whoever you please. And unless that person hates you or something, there's no conflict. There's no "social code" in our schools.

It's all about your personality and how many people you actually know and choose to interact with.

I find myself knowing and impressing many people with my adorableness and funniness, and there are others that think I'm "weird" and an asshole. During lunch, I sit at a preferably empty table with just Paul and I--and we'd usually catch each other up with new iPhone applications, tech news, etc.

My school is the same.

I just graduated, but I'm not really sure there WAS a hierarchy, at least in my grade anyways. There were the classic jocks (mostly football and wrestling) who tended to be pretty nice in my graduating class, despite typical social stereotypes. Then there were the freaks and geeks, which I never really paid much attention except in 10th grade and whom everyone hated and were hated back. (Some fat kid in senior year got his 15 yo girl pregnant, and they kept it. Fools.) There there were the potheads and skaters. Then there were the alcoholics (rugby players) whom everyone hung out with.

And then there was the group that I most closely resembled, a strange group. There were many sub groups in it, but everyone for the most part were friends with each other. This is the group where the popular kids everyone knew, the super nerds, the other athletes (soccer, lacrosse, tennis, baseball, etc.), the casual video game players, the rock band players, and much more. It practically encompassed every social group possible except the outer fringes, although other than the freaks and geeks, we were generally friends with the other social groups. (I, for example, am huge friends with the alcoholics and some jocks.)

Yes, there were some geeks who I liked and talked to, and were in fact included in our huge group. Not even they ever socialized with the true freaks and geeks.

it sounds to me like you kind of did. Just the fact that you separated things by grade in high school is weird.  befuddlement
