I think I should work with abused children. 
It might allow me to do something that lets me feel good about myself and help people who, for once, might actually appreciate it.  I also know how it feels and I'd be able to relate. :'(  I thought of it last night and I realized that it may be a good idea.  How exactly would I go about doing this?

IT TAKES A LONG TIME TO HELP THEM AND EARN THEIR HONESTY AND TRUST SINCE THEY WERE ABUSED AND PROBABLY LOST FAITH IN TRUSTING PEOPLE.

also ask for applications at therapeutic places or something, most likely abused kids will have social workers or psychologists.

 Big Brothers and Big Sisters. Try calling Social Services they have ideas. I find it to be rewarding. And yes, it takes a lot of time to get their trust. But it's worth it.
