We are on two different wavelengths here. What kind of attorney has deadlines? The only deadlines an attorney must deal with are ones relevant to lawsuits and other legal procedures. As far as I know (and being related to someone who studies law who can give me this info), being a lawyer is one of the busiest, but otherwise time-flexible jobs around. But yeah, it really does depend on what job your employer is looking for (and what you can do, if not a job you want).

If you are a surgeon, then who cares if you failed Algebra? All a surgeon does is surgically cure illnesses. Pharmacists, however, need mathematical knowledge to properly prescribe medications. Construction workers rely on communication, but how does an A+ in Honors English prevent communication errors? In fact, it might make communication worse, seeing as your stereotypical (if not typical) construction worker didn't do very well in school (English specifically).


BTW Past, non-chronological illnesses that effected your school grade doesn't have to effect your work report that's due on Wednesday.

My dad is a lawyer, and works at least 10 hours a day... doesn't seem flexible to me. If he even misses one day with illness he usually has to go in during the weekend to catch up with the work

He works on getting immigrant families into the country mostly... Oh, and he helped shut down the Westboro Baptist Church.

I don't really feel like arguing much though. I'd agree that at a certain point taking classes not applying to your planned career doesn't make much sense, but I guess it's assumed that's the duty of colleges.

And one sick day in high school could prevent you from getting into a collage. BTW is that an independent job or does he work in an organization for that kind of legal service?

He's a partner at his firm now, I don't think he's been an independent lawyer. He's always worked in a firm or for the Army

Well in those types of jobs, being sick can make things very difficult. Then again, it (should be) possible to sacrifice some of your pay to hand over your work to someone else, while you are sick (and you know for a fact that you will remain sick a day or two after the deadline).
