how the fuck do you fail english?  befuddlement
i know i didn't do any work for the entire last quarter and still passed lolz

You can fail anything if you don't do the work. School is BS that way, someone who does all the work but understands shit about the essence of the class passes. Someone who does well on exams but does nothing else fails.

Orientation starts on August 20th, and classes start on the 25th.

My summer started on June 28th.  :(
I started earlier than that and I go back later than that. Do you get a longer Christmas break?

If we did research papers instead of essays, I would be somewhere in the 90s.

I always got 70s and 80s on my essays. Sometimes 90s.

You do know how big a research paper is, right?

The one I did for Geography was about 5-6 pages. To me, research papers are less constricting.

I had a 98 in English and a 97 in geometry.  powerofone;

I don't know how I managed the English grade, because my teacher hated me and I never did any of the work.  doodthing;

I got a 94 or so in Algebra, then after that, all I can say is that I've got an A in PE and an A- in Electronics 1.

If idiots can do the work, I'd assume the smart ones would be equally capable of doing it, so it's not really bullshit.

In the working world, if you don't do your work, you don't get paid, and that certaintly is not bullshit

It's bullshit because it is a bad form of learning. I would be content with a written exam at the end of each month responding to a topic which was tough during that month. If you understand and expand on it, great, if not then too bad. However that's it, no homework and no busy work made to make teacher look good.

In the working world what matters are results, not how you go about getting them.

First of all, idiots tend to turn in F quality work. If idiots only do F quality work, they are more likely to fail that class. If they fail all of their classes throughout high school (and then some), then they are forced to a job like McDonald's, if a job at all.

Second, why are we forced into school? We are forced into school because it would allow the companies to employ better educated workers. If there was no compulsory education, then companies would have a harder time finding highly (if at all) educated people.

On the other hand, compulsory education doesn't do much for some students (like me). Why would I have to have high grades in English to become the company's attorney (for example)? It'd be better to prove that I would be able to legally serve the company by explaining to the employer why I got an F for the second semester of English. If I could convince the employer that I would have passed English if it weren't for a sickness that prevented me to turn in a critical essay, then they might find that I'd be a great attorney for the company (hypothetically speaking).

My point is that compulsory education is easier on employers, but alternative education (depending on the teacher['s] quality of education and personal knowledge) would be better off for employers. I'm open to the fact that I might be missing critical factors such as one's willingless to learn. Then again, those people might be like that because they are forced to do so now.

And you'll also find employers don't care about sickness if it means what they wanted you to accomplish by a deadline goes undone
