Set in pre-WWI Eastern Europe, Sadness follows the story of Maria, a woman who has to protect her narcoleptic son Alexander after their train derails in the countryside. Their subsequent adventures are based on Slavic legends, and become even more bizarre as Alexander begins acting oddly.

According to an interview with IGN, the game is meant to scare the player by atmosphere and not by bloodlust or violence. Various methods of playing include slitting the throat of enemies with glass or throwing a rope over a wall using the similar motion with the freehand controller. It was also said by the developer Nibris that the game will have a special way to save progress. This will happen automatically, at specific moments unbeknownst to the players so it can keep the feeling of reality.

Unlike other third person games, Sadness will not make use of a heads up display to allow greater immersion.

Sounds like this could be a horror game that can scare the jebus out of some of us.

Yeah, I'm with every poster in this thread on this one. Seems like its never coming out at this point, which dissapoints me because I used to be really excited about it, but it just faded away. But also as steal mentioned, it has super suck potential also.
