How does Last.FM's music compatibility thing work?

I thought it was by number of artists shared, but according to the facebook app, it's not.




Has anyone figured out how they calculate this?

it's also factoring in similar genres or the frequency you listen to one artist, from the looks of it

It keeps track of what you listen to on iTunes, an iPod, or WMP. I think one other program is compatible with it too.

It will "scrobble" the tracks you listened to and save the stats.

You can also listen to tracks directly on the site.  You can go to the artist page and there are related artists, so you can find similar artists to ones you listen to.
It helps to find people who listen to similar music and find more music that you'd like.
