I'm not a professional critic, but I thought the movie was great. The animation was well done, and I thought the character development for Eddie, and Sandman (Forget his name psyduck;) was pretty good. A few problems, however.

1. Emo-Peter.

psyduck; Wow, this was.... wow. For one, Emo-Parker only appears when Peter wears his Symbiote Suit. Not to say there's a problem with that, just stating fact. However, at some points, it felt like this was a movie made by teens on MySpace. For instance, after Parker hit MJ, it started to rain, and he put his head down.  psyduck; Emo moment.

Another inconsistency with it, is that, when he has that haircut, no one can take him seriously. He went out in real life with that haircut, and danced all around New York. That's not how people with "thoughts" on their mind act. They don't act happy, dance, and buy nice clothes.

2. Transitions and character plots.

This story, instead of been called, Spider-Man 3, should have been called "Marvel Character in the Spider-Man Universe Action Drama Palooza/Spider-Man 3". I swear, this is a Spider-Man movie. Sure, it's nice to have character development, but when half (literally, half of the movie) takes place around MJ and her quest to be a star, Harry and his amnesia (Do the Twist? wtc;), and the Sandman and his daughter, it's not that much Spider-Man oriented anymore.

Now, for my favorite part of the movie.

The tragedy at the end.

First, let's talk about Sandman. He has a daughter, who needs an operation, and has to steal to get the money. When he steals something, he gets involved in a science accident, and his DNA is infected with sand. Ok. That part was pretty sad, because right before that, his daughter gave him a locket, and that was the only thing that didn't survive the mutation.

Next, let's talk about Spider-Man and his relationship with Uncle Ben. In the first movie, we see his uncle die, and Spider-Man decides to become a good guy. That's fine and dandy. He also kills, who he suspects to be the murderer of his uncle. Ok. Revenge. In the 3rd movie, however, Peter and Aunt May are called to the Police Station, and told that the person who Peter killed in the first movie, was not Ben's Murderer.

Ooh, plot twist. Peter goes down to the sewer, following Sandman. They fight. This was where the movie took a tragic turn. Symbiote Peter literally, smashes Sandman's head against an oncoming train, only to have it disintegrated. No one deserves that kind of punishment, human or sand.

After this, Peter goes to the Church Tower, rings the church bell. Apparently, large noises, like a bell ringing, causes the Symbiote to fluctuate. Peter tears the Symbiote and the Suit off of him, and it drips, off 4 or 5 flights of stairs, and lands on Eddie. Now, understand, right before this, Eddie had came to the Church, and asked the Lord to kill Peter Parker, for stealing his girlfriend, and for exposing his photos that landed him his job at the Daily Bugle as fake.

As comic fans should know, Eddie transforms into Venom. In the following scene, Mary Jane comes out of her new job, and the rest I will save for you guys to watch.

Near the end, the Sandman tells Peter that it wasn't him who killed his uncle. He just needed the money for his daughter's operation, and Uncle Ben tried to get him to put down the gun. Unfortunately, his apprentice, who Peter killed in the first movie, had bumped into him, which made him shoot. His last line brought tears to my eyes: "You don't need to forgive me, I just want you to understand."

And at the end, Harry, with his new scar from his fight with Peter, was, sadly, in the same way as his father, killed by his glider in a stab in the heart. The movie, basically, ends with Peter and MJ crying over him as he dies, and is followed by the traditional funeral scene, which was present in the first movie, and I think, in the second.

Thoughts or comments?

EDIT: I really should tell you guys, I didn't like how Venom actually talked a couple times when he was in Venom form, he usually just screeches in the comics or the Ultimate Spider-Man game.  psyduck;

I heard it sucks. ALMOST as much as the game. But SHHH! I don't want the fans to know that! It may hurt their feelings!  v;

Correction, the locket did survive the mutation.
I hate how they only gave Venom like, 15 mintues of on-screen time. That was upsetting.

He is a MAJOR villain; probably Spider-man's biggest one yet, and they barely gave him screen time.

All of a sudden he can fight and do all this good stuff. I think Venom should have been present throughout the whole movie and they should have shown him learn how to control the suit, and build his anger more for Peter.

It felt like it was rushed, to me.  y;

Oh, it did? I thought it just fell or something, because I thought that would have just turned to dust under the beam, since it's not a real part of the Sandman's body.

Nope. He looked at it several times throughout the movie.

I suppose anything that involves depression is emo now?

mariofreak55

That's not emo, dumbass.

Anyways, you just summarized the movie? Anyways, who else thought the part where he got the new suit and went outside and started doing random dance moves outside of the clothes store was hilarious.

I did. I was laughing in the theater during that part. XD

I'm hoping that the explosion that sopossedly killed Venom just knocked him off the construction site. Venom in SM4 FTW!

As said before, the locket does survive, remember he continually tries to grab it after he arose from the sand in his new form. Venom, my favorite villain of all time, died like a moron.
The chiming sound from the bars and the "huge" venom were awesome, but only the chiming stayed true to the comic. As for Huge Venom, it was a nice effect to show the symbiotes will to live, though when Peter hits the bars and it retracts, it again shows its weakness. I believe Venom should have not died like that, Eddie Brock should have run away, or been hit off the construction sight, to allow a return in a possible 4th movie. Now, Venom's lines were a bit odd, since once Peter talks about the "power" it gives and all that, Eddie Brock looks like he's gonna orgasm, now as for actual lines, his talk of revenge was a little to brief. Seeing as in the cartoon, he continues to talk as "WE ARE VENOM", placing the suit as a 2nd formation of himself. As for comic lines, it goes almost the same, but it holds more talk of revenge (I believe, I forget these things, seeing as I'm not able to see the actual original comics, but I do have a book collecting the Birth of Venom story, I'm getting close to Venom's actual birth).
Now, as for Gwen Stacie, she should have died BEFORE this whole symbiote story (I believe, I don't know much about her, just that she was Peters girlfriend before M.J.).  Really, I don't see much into this girl, though she plays a part on how Peter begins to ruin himself in the relationship of him and M.J. (The kiss, people, remember that kiss...hmmm, familiar, no?).
Now, for the whole M.J./Harry getting together again, pure shit, hell, a kid in the theatre I went to yelled out "HO!" when she kissed him behind Peter's back. Also, "New" Goblin gets hurt like a bitch to easy and too early, though when Peter goes "Emo", he gets a bomb thrown at him, showing Peter's newly expressed anger. Great add to plot, in my opinion.
Sandman, never liked him before, but the part he plays in this movie is pretty good. I loved his final line as well, very deep and good for the story. He might of done wrong, though an act was an accident, he explains that he didn't want to hurt him, he carefully took his uncle out of the car and then he begin that dialogue with him, nice addition to his character personality.
Greatest disappointment? The death of both the symbiote AND Eddie Brock, the symbiote suit completely destroyed, along with its final host. This completely goes against the comic, when the symbiote continues to spread, onto its offspring, Carnage, and then Toxin. Plus the multiple amounts of Venom reproductions, though Scorpion is the newest, it seems like the story isn't played out well in the movie at all. Though the others weren't exactly going with it either, well maybe the 1st one.

sweat; sorry, I'm just like this when it comes to Venom or the movie

If I'm wrong on anything, tell me please, I love learning more and correcting my mistakes wub;
