title is under the impression that that is somehow better than a dedicated graphics card befuddlement
uh that's not what i was asking

i was just wondering how one goes about 'overclocking' the amount of memory a gpu has

According to the FSF, Open/NeoOffice are not free software.
never heard that before, but i do know that they don't like the heavy dependence on java

what matters most to me is that it's much faster than having to run openoffice under x11

sure but i'm satisfied with neooffice and i don't like gimp and the only other x11 apps i'd ever find myself using are some games but as far as i can tell all of them suck so x11 isn't much use to me

therefore it's okay that apple sucks in that particular area

It's not just Java. Even though what Sun owns has been LGPL'd, some core components were licensed and can't be LGPL'd. Thankfully, Red Hat and the Fedora Project are working on IcedTea, which would make it free.

But the FSF has weird rules on what is free/non-free. Firefox is considered non-free because the logo and name are trademarked. Same with any other artwork. Reverse-engineers like NTFS-3g and x264 are also considered non-free because they require interacting with proprietary codecs and such.
