i really do not understand the appeal of using cards in a video game

I find at least four opponents in A Link Between Worlds from Spotpasses, so I've been getting some challenges done. 

I'm playing Pokemon Silver, and right now I'm VSing Whitney and she has her Clefairy out while I have Togepi out:

I use Metronome but Clefairy went first and used Rolling Kick.  Togepi flinched.
I use some Charm, Clefairy used Metronome to Earthquake...
I use Charm again, Clefairy used Metronome to TRI ATTACK.  So it damages me more since it's not a Physical move...

I use a Potion.  Clefairy used Metronome to FIRE SPIN. 
What.  It doesn't even thaw me out, but I doubt this game would have had that happen anyway.

i never even bother with status effects or negative stat changes on enemy pokemon in the single player game unless it's to catch a pokemon. there's really no point in typical trainer battles imo.

i almost beat miltank @ like 1-4 hp, couldn't tell but it was close.  togepi killed clefairy with sweet kiss & headbutt

togepi was going to wreck miltank shit with headbutt

but IT used MILK DRINK

first time it ever used that move i was surprised.  i forgot it had it.

rollout killed togepi, then quilava, then the rest.  again

i am takign break from it now
