Maybe GCF thinks that his forum is invincible because he has a domain name now.  Anyway, what exactly does pinging a website do?  From what I found out, it just check's the server status.

If loads of people do it, it can slow the server down, hog up resources, and possibly even just crash it. Since he's probably just using a cheap $5 server, it probably wouldn't take too many of us to jack him up. If all of our Linux and Mac users just simply typed sudo ping -f hypercafe.net, that'd probably be enough.

The -f tells it to keep on sending out packets nonstop. caterpie;
