so i'm replaying this to get the platinum and i skipped old yharnam so i can talk to djura later

apparently the bagmen don't spawn until you kill blood-starved beast, which is fine since i can still make it to paarl later

but killing bsb is also the trigger to opening the door in oedon chapel that leads to upper cathedral ward for some reason? except gehrman told me to ascend to oedon chapel after i killed amelia? but the door is still locked which means the game is telling me to do something i literally can't do?
