Hey yall, you might know I know about circuits nowadays. Great things to talk about in this thread:

  • Talk about your circuit projects, your fixes (anything from soldering your earphone wire or making a clock that is internet controlled on your own home made PCB boards) share pictures

  • Ask questions about how to fix your stuff

  • Ask me how to build things, where to look, how electronics work

  • Post cool videos

OMG ya this is something I actually have been experimenting with this week.

I fear that this image will make more questions than it answers but I'll give it a go anyways.  I could walk you through the steps to building it if you are interesting.

How do I make a clock that is internet connected? O_0

I'm going to college in the fall so maybe making something like that would be a neat project in my free time.

1. if you're getting a real major then you won't have free time. if you do make sure to get into clubs and do projects outside of class like this one. preferably with clubs or at work.

It probably has a loose connection, if they're earbuds it's probably not worth trying but if they're big try opening them up. You can probably twist the wires together (use wire cutters if you need to expose more wire). You may need to solder if the wire is difficult to wrap together and doesn't stay. Solder supplies are CHEAP on ebay.

Some casing makes it really hard to do this repair, in that case you'll need to shell out the money.

Daddy

what kind of soldering iron do you use

reeper

Whichever is convenient. At work they use really nice ones that make sure the temperature is whatever you put it at. At home I use a crappy one that has no controls, just is whatever temp it is at. At work I solder circuit boards that are tests for satellite circuit boards, much smaller and more precision required. At home I just do small projects.

I was thinking of becoming a chemical engineer or a lab rat in general. Not exactly sure where I want to go with it.
