the last arc was super dialogue heavy
like even for monogatari
it was still good though

The Hand That Fisted Everyone

finished The Mysterious Underground Men.

What was almost more interesting than the book (which is a very enjoyable read and charmingly illustrated) was the afterword and essay at the end of the manga. Tezuka wrote the afterword himself back in 1982, and briefly addresses some influences, but the essay by Ryan Holmberg delves further into these influences (which include Blondie and Popeye??) and even how Tezuka's positioning  and movemet of his own characters were influenced by Disney ten cent comics that were brought to japan through the american occupation of japan during ww2.

Also brought up is that this manga is one of the first to have a kind of bittersweet ending. Which i guess is a staple for tezuka, but was unheard of in manga up to that point.

I love his books that have bittersweet endings.  giggle;

Thanks Corey. I'll pick that one up next.
As for you, I just got done reading Barbara by him. Check that one out next. Very sad.

I love the use of "when Johnny comes marching home" as the end credits music in robertas blood trail
