I have just finished Founding Brothers by Joseph Ellis. This is a spending book. It is learned, exceedingly well-written, and perceptive. It conveys not only the historical context of our Founders, but also the personal hurts, joys, capitulations, regrets, tragedies, and ultimately the final judgments they made about each other and the Revolution. Along the way it manages something rare in a history, rare in any writing: to capture the ineffable qualities that inhibit great minds, and even grander souls.

In consequence, I have begun to peruse several autobiographies of Alexander Hamilton. My compassion for him has grown tremendously, and my respect immensely so. He was a flawed Giant, but a great Man.

Alexander Hamilton by Henry Cabot Lodge
Alexander Hamilton by by Forrest McDonald
Alexander Hamilton by Jacob Cooke

Not much variety in title, however these are great accounts. Some offer provocativeness, others display conservative tenancies, all are intriguing.

idk why they dont teach this in history or english but kafka was a pen name for james joyce for a short period, he even went far enough to set up a fake back story and even death with a help of his doctor. (JOyce had his doctor "kill him" by pronouncing "Kafka's" tuberculous uncureable)
